Malawi Mouse Boys announced for WOMAD 2013

Malawi Mouse Boys

Earlier this week the lineup for this year’s WOMAD UK Festival was released, and includes rootsy Malawi 8-piece Malawi Mouse Boys. The young band play songs reminiscent of American and South African township gospel, and released their debut album He is #1 last year, a record made with Ian Brennan, producer of Tinariwen’s recent album, Tassili.

Held 25-28 July at Charlton Park in Wiltshire, other acts confirmed for the festival we like include Gilberto Gil – leader of Brazil’s tropicália movement of the late 60s, Malian singer songwriter Rokia Traoré, Tanzania afro-punk collective Jagwa Music, UK dubstep pioneer Mala and cumbia sound purveyors Ondatrópica.
